Honoring Our Journey: Announcing Changes to SokoLocal
Dear SokoLocal Community,
Innovation has always been at the heart of what we do. With the advent of SokoLocal, we set out on a mission to uplift local businesses, creating a unique platform that not only served as an online search engine for locally-sold products but also helped market businesses in innovative ways. Instead of traditional marketing methods, SokoLocal emphasized the diverse product range these local businesses carried, lending them a competitive edge against larger organizations.
Throughout its tenure, SokoLocal served as a digital bridge between local businesses and consumers. In its final stage, we proudly listed over 2.1 million products from more than 1,300 businesses across 36 cities. This achievement was not just ours but a collective accomplishment shared with the local businesses, consumers, and media partners who believed in our mission. Our journey was amplified by the support of esteemed local media partners such as CTV News, CityNews, MountainFM in Canmore & Banff, Curiocity, and 660News.
As we continue to evolve and align our resources with emerging market trends, we have made the decision to sunset SokoLocal. This decision was not easy but was made with an eye towards the future of our company and the changing dynamics of retail and local commerce.
While we bid farewell to SokoLocal as a standalone product, its essence and the technological milestones it achieved will continue to inspire and guide our future endeavors. The lessons we learned and the connections we made will stay with us as we forge new paths in our mission to innovate and support businesses in meaningful ways.
